Volunteers at our hospitals have a very important role to play. People have been volunteering their time at Wellington and Kenepuru Hospitals since the Ladies Auxillary formed in 1928.
Volunteers are an integral part of health care in the Greater Wellington Region and the hospitals rely greatly on their assistance. A wide range of people, of different ages and backgrounds, men and women offer their time freely to help patients and visitors at our hospitals.
Typically individuals offer one three hour shift per week. Some choose to give more or less time depending on their other commitments. We like to remain flexible and set hours that suit volunteers.
To extend the care/manaaki of patients and their family through contact with them in a supportive and warm way. To be part of a team that works towards creating a positive, friendly and community-minded environment for patients during their stay in hospital.
