Bill Day JP - Chairman

Bill is currently a company director and is active in the local community. He is chair of the Life Flight Trust, a board member of Wellington Free Ambulance, a director of Wellington Free Ambulance Charitable Trust, a board member of Shakespeare Globe Theatre Trust, a director of Niloc (2005) Limited, a director of Gamblers Support Trust and a Justice of the Peace.

Bill retired from a senior position with Westpac after 33 years service and has also been CEO of New Zealand Community Trust for seven years. He has held directorships in a number of other charitable trusts and companies.

Ken Whelan

Ken Whelan was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Capital & Coast DHB in February 2008.

Ken began his career as a Psychiatric Nurse and over time moved from the hands-on delivery of care to administrative and management roles in health - including senior management positions in Bay of Plenty.

In 1998 Ken took on the role of CEO at Northland Health Limited - a position he held for 5 years.  During that time he steered that organisation through the transition to the new "District Health Board" system - and its its new identity and role as Northland DHB.

In 2002 Ken accepted the role of Chief Executive/District Manager for Townsville Health Service District - a tertiary provider serving a wide area of northern Queensland in Australia.  Ken has a great understanding of how an official charity and a Hospital can work closely together, and we are very pleased to have him as a trustee.

Shaan Winiata Stevens

Mr Shaan Stevens is an executive director of the Wellington based strategic consultancy firm, Guinness Gallagher.

Mr Stevens is both a chartered accountant and practising barrister. He is an associate member of the Commerce Commission, on the on the council of Victoria University of Wellington and on the board of a number of private sector companies.

He has a long involvement in health in the Wellington region and was a former director on the Hutt Valley Health DHB. Mr Stevens is currently on the board of the Wellington Free Ambulance and the Wellington Free Ambulance Trust.

Mr Stevens is of Ngati Kahungunu and Ngati Raukawa descent.

Alick Shaw – Deputy Mayor, Wellington City Council

Alick is a committed and passionate Wellingtonian. He is currently in his third term as Wellington city councillor and second term as deputy mayor.

Board appointments include: Arts Council of Creative New Zealand, Wellington Community Foundation and Capacity (Wellington Water Management Ltd).

Dr. Geoffrey Robinson

Dr. Geoffrey Robinson is the chief medical officer at Capital & Coast District Health Board since 1 May 2005.
Previously Dr. Robinson worked as a consultant physician in Kenepuru Hospitalin general medicine and the alcohol and drug service since 1980. He also held the position of clinical director of Kenepuru and Kapiti from July 2003 until appointed as chief medical officer.

He is also a member of the Department of Medicine, Wellington School of Medicine and continues a clinical involvement with detoxification service and general medicine outpatients at Kenepuru Hospital.

Dr. Robinson has had a significant involvement with clinical research relating to medicine, alcohol and drug issues and is currently also responsible for the RMO (junior medical officer) administration unit and involved with national issues for RMO’s.
