The Foundation was set up to provide additional equipment, support and help to patients, their families and staff - as an extra to state funding. This is only possible through the generous help from members of our community who believe that community support of their hospitals can make a difference in patient's lives.
Our aim is to help as many patients and their families as possible, in a personal and meaningful manner at Wellington Hospital, Kenepuru Hospital, Wellington Children's Hospital and Kapiti Health Centre.
Hospital Volunteers are the Foundation's greatest asset and the Foundation supports and nurtures their needs, ensuring their commitment and effort is recognised.
As a charity, the Wellington Hospitals & Health Foundation maximises the percentage of funds raised that flow direct to it's patients programs by minimising overheads and soliciting donations of time, goods and services in everything it does.
The Foundation's fundraising events originate with the objective of a 100% return on all monies raised, and prefer not to use external professional fundraisers. All donors are made to feel part of the Hospitals Foundation family and a commitment "beyond a donation" is sought.
The Foundation's staff and Volunteers work as one cohesive and caring team for patients and their families. Team members work passionately, enthusiastically and with pride in the interests of patients, hospital staff and the community. The Foundation has a strong association with Wellington Children's Hospital (see our Children's Hospital website www.hospitalkids.org.nz).
The Trustees are passionate about the cause and are committed to the highest level of ethics in the management and governance of Wellington Hospitals & Health Foundation.
