Volunteers provide a valuable contribution by giving extended care and manaaki support to patients, relatives/whanau and friends.
There are many rewards in return, from meeting new people through to being able to enjoy the experience of giving. Many visitors/patients to the hospital are vulnerable and in need of assistance in many different ways. Being able to show consideration, empathy or some measure of kindness may bring balance, perspective and fulfillment to your own life As well as all of those things, it can be enjoyable, social and satisfying work.
